I have a 1989 capri bayliner with a 1989 force 125. the motor starts in about 1/2 a turn, it runs perfectly at idle. it will shift into gear but bogs down when it is under a load. it will not get past 2000 rpm's. here are the things ive done so far. 1. cleaned carbs with cleaner and air pressure. 2x's. made sure needle was falling when float comes down 2.. I have a mercury 150 black max that has no power under a load. boat revs fine when prop is not engauged. it has new power packs and stator. carbs have been cleaned. has good compression and good spark on all cylinders. while out testing the boat it ran out of gas and picked up power right befor running out..
I have scrubbed the bottom, pulled and balanced and polished the props, drives are all the way down, tabs are up. motors run great, no missing or shuttering, however they just wont spin up over 3k under a load and therefore the boat wont plane. any help would be great, thanks in advance, justin.. Re: my boat wont plane out and reach rpms if you have a spun hub, take it to a prop shop to repair. you need a spare anyway, so you might as well take a new one along with you to the lake and enjoy the day if this is your problem. i am always suspect of the prop hub diagnosis when the engine won't rev higher.. Was you boat running fine on the way to your honey hole but either would not start or plane out several hours later when it was time to leave? danny explains....
